表面活性剂、洗净剂、乳化剂，化妆水类产品加入后会较为滑顺，甚至有相当的起泡性。于化妆水中含量多在 1% 以下，一般健康的皮肤对此浓度通常不会感到刺激，但当皮肤受伤、发炎、起疹、角质偏薄时，部份可溶化剂就可能会造成刺痛、发痒现象，此成份安全性为 1/5(越高越好)[1]。

As the numerical value of Laureths increases, the viscosity of the ingredient increases until they become white, waxy solids.
