Ingredients: Pure Natural Henna (Lawsonia inermis)
Safety Notice: All Henna Powders from New Directions are natural and para-phenylenediamine (PPD) free.
This Henna Powder produces a high quality Henna stain. Henna is a natural semi permanent dye and colour will fade over 2-3 months. It is not advised to use henna on chemically treated hair, including dyed bleached or permed. When used on partly gray hair an uneven effect may occur.
There is a case for adjusting the pH of the henna mixture before applying it to the hair. A pH of around 4 - 4.5 may speed up the reaction of the henna with the amino acids in the hair (keratin) allowing for a faster development of the colour. Heat also helps to give a richer colour so we recommend wrapping the hair during dyeing or sitting in a warm place.
1)Wear plastic gloves and wear old clothes
2)For short hair mix 60g of henna with 1 cup of hot water (250ml), for shoulder length or longer hair, mix 90 V120g with 1.5 V 2 cups of hot water. Stir until an even paste is formed.
3)Allow mixture to stand 4 to 5 minutes to cool
4)Apply mixture with a brush or with gloved fingers straight onto dry hair. Section the hair and apply the henna from the roots to the nape working up to the crown of the head.
5)Ensure the hair is evenly coated and leave to develop for a minimum of 15 minutes. The longer the henna is left on the hair, the deeper the colour will be but do not exceed 4 hours. A warm environment will help the colour to develop.
6)Rinse hair thoroughly with warm water when finished tomove all the henna, then shampoo and condition as normal.Please note that this product is powder only. Consumers will need their own tools in order to apply the Henna.
The extract can also be used to colour natural skin and hair care formulations.
