性质:无色液体。沸点241℃,116℃(0.67kPa),103℃(6.7kPa),相对密度0.9220(20/4),折光率1.4478,闪点121℃。溶于6-7份乙醇中,在空气中易氧化,对酸、碱不太稳定,贮藏中有聚合倾向。

制备方法:由香茅醛在双键上加水制得。香茅醛的水合反应在无机酸存在下进行,但香茅醛在酸性介质中不稳定,需用亚硫酸氢钠、胺类、低级脂肪酸酐等保护醛基,在水合反应结束后,再在反应试剂作用下使醛基恢复。将香茅醛同亚硫酸氢钠作用生成亚硫酸氢盐化合物,然后再进行水合,是保护香茅醛醛基的最常用方法。随后用干燥的碳酸钠的甲苯中分解亚硫酸氢盐化合物,析出羟基香茅醛。香茅醛是由柠檬醛或含有柠檬醛的精油和产物经催化氢化获得的,将香茅醛与亚硫酸氢钠溶液进行水合作用。然后加入碳酸钠中和剩余的盐酸,至物料中酸含量为0.5-1%时,用甲苯萃取有机杂质。分出甲苯萃取物后,在水合产物中添加甲苯,加入干燥的碳酸钠分解羟基香茅醛的亚硫酸氢盐化合物,这时析出的醛就被甲苯萃取,取甲苯溶液回收甲苯,剩余物通过真空蒸馏提纯,得到产品羟香茅醛。

用途:该品稀释时具有类似菩提、铃兰和新鲜的青草香气,广泛用于铃兰、兰花、茉莉、紫丁香等香精中,在香水、香粉等化妆品香精中用量高达20%,是最有价值的香料之一。该品是我国GB2760-86规定允许使用的食用香料,主要用于配制柑桔、西瓜、樱桃等瓜果型香精。由于该品易氧化,可添加抗氧剂3,6-二叔丁基-4-甲基苯酚作稳定。羟基香茅醛在碱性中不稳定,故在肥皂香精中使用其缩醛,例如二甲缩醛等,有时将羟基香茅醛与苄醇、苯乙醇以及香茅醇以半缩醛形式存放和使用。羟基香茅醛还用来制取其他香料,如1-氨基-7-羟基-3,7-二甲基辛烷和邻羟基香茅叉氨基苯甲酸甲酯。曾用含0.5%该品饲料喂大鼠两年,未发现任何异现象。

上面说的26种被报道的被欧盟禁止的香料有误,参见下面的链接(德文)里面提到这26种香料是因为被报道过出现一例或者若干例过敏,所以从2004年起必须在化妆品的香料列表中单独标明,并不是被禁止使用
PS 我在德国现在买到的化妆品还能见到这些香料,可以证明之前的报道有误,我给出的链接说明可信

Hydroxycitronellal is a skin care ingredient that primarily serves as a perfuming agent. This synthetic fragrance is derived from the volatile fragrant compound citronellol and has a floral scent with undertones of citrus.

Hydroxycitronellal prompts skin sensitization in certain individuals, which can lead to bumps, redness and itchiness. Due to the reactions it can incur, hydroxycitronellal been identified as one of the European Union’s “26 fragrance allergens.” These fragrances must be listed by name on products that they’re included in and cannot simply be labelled as “parfum” or “fragrance.”

Beyond skin care, hydroxycitronellal is also used in the hair and body care industries at a maximum concentration of 3.6%.
