Citric Acid

Molecular Weight: 192.124
Cas No:77-92-9; 5949-29-1

Chelator; Buffering agent; pH Adjuster

Citric acid is widely used as a pH adjusting agent in creams and gels of all kinds.
In this role it is classified in most jurisdictions as a processing aid and so does not need to be listed on ingredient lists.
Citric acid is an alpha hydroxy acid and used as an active ingredient in chemical peels.

I have very sun sensitive skin and sunscreens with citric acid make my skin more photosensitive. I avoid it in most of my skincare products.
